Have a watch by clicking the video below and I think you’ll understand…
Also thanks for sharing it, with trust in a happier future. And, in 2030, do come back to me and let me know if you’ll still agree ;).
Mr. Dahl said that if you want to understand the world from a child’s point of view, you simply have to get down on your hands and knees and live like that for a week.
Well, we (Romain, Andra and our host, Silvy from Perfect Body Luxembourg), did that for one day. During the fifth edition of 2030, WHEN i GROW UP. On a sunny day. In November. And what we have learned from our 7 participants, is precious: IT TAKES NOT MUCH TO DISCOVER BEAUTY. You don’t need expensive creams and mascaras. You need: BEAUTIFUL MINDS.
Using a camera, nail polish, modelling clay, house objects, pens, mum’s make-up, and whatever crosses their way and sparks their imagination, kids get to show us how they SEE THE BEAUTY IN EVERY STORY. More than that, through the art of participatory storytelling and film-making, kids both learn and get to learn personal development: TEAMWORK and SELF-CONFIDENCE. Things they usually don’t get to learn in school, where their focus is on competition and, well… sometimes even on how to memorize things and then promptly forget them…
Nevertheless, even all this robot trouble will be gone one day. Or not. Soon even your child will grow up and choose what to do in life. Or not. He or she will become an adult. Who forgets the gift of seeing the world with eyes wide open. Or not.
Now, don’t panic! Despite the robot tasks he or she has to do in school, your child does have a tremendous potential to grow up as a creative adult. And this gift definitely needs to be encouraged on a daily basis. Please parent. Set-up the foundation for creative optimistic never-giving-up kicking heroes!
Meanwhile, if ever your kids will find themselves in soul trouble, they’ll open their audio-visual diaries. Like the one above. They’ll have a look into the memories they cemented TODAY – tomorrow’s long time ago. And will hopefully find creative guidance in them. That day, I’m pretty sure they’ll remember:
THE KEY TO SEE THE BEAUTY IN EVERY STORY. THE KEY TO CREATING A LIFE THEY LOVE. IS DISCOVERY. MAKING EVERYTHING ABOUT DISCOVERY.
