WHAT IS PARTICIPATORY CINEMA ?
Huh ? What is this ? Well, it's the concept our workshops are based upon.
PARTICIPATORY CINEMA tries to involve a film's community in the process of making movies, rather than interaction being left to cinema viewers at the end of the process. The organizers of participatory cinema open up cinema showings and the cinema production process for non professionals.
Where classic film production focuses on the final product, participatory cinema focuses on the process of making movies and its meaning on the participators. I call it personal development takeaways. Especially important when setting foundations for healthy mindsets.
Remember: cinema and the digital tools nowadays are very powerful. You can't give kids these tools, without teaching them how to use them. It's like giving them a car without teaching them how to drive.
WHEN ? WHERE ?
The workshops are held once per month (usually on Saturdays or Sundays).
From 10:00 to 13:00.
The location of the workshop changes with every workshop and, thus, depends on the subject of the workshop to be filmed. Why ? Because the setting creates the atmosphere of the story kids want to tell and helps put the public in the moment. For example, if kids learn to make a movie by having as a subject a doctor, we'll conduct the workshop in a medical office. Have a look at our latest workshops and locations.
DO YOU COME TO OUR HOUSE TO TEACH OUR CHILDREN HOW TO MAKE A MOVIE?
Yes, we do. We also conduct WORKSHOPS ON DEMAND, for instance during your kids' anniversaries. Or during festivities at schools. Our clients are both private and public entities.
WHAT IS THE LANGUAGE OF THE WORKSHOP?
Our main communication language depends on the dynamics of the group. Multiple languages interact together very efficiently at 2030, WHEN i GROW UP. At their early ages, children have the capability to learn very easily a new language by playing and doing creative things, such as learning to decode the hero's journey in cartoons and creating their own movie.
HOW MANY PARTICIPANTS PER WORKSHOP?
Highly interactive and practical, participation is limited to 6-8 children/workshop.
During our boutique atelier, we focus on dedicating ourselves to each child.
WHAT'S THE PARTICIPATION FEE AND WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?
The fee of participation is 115 EUR/child and includes:
- preparation and organisation of the workshop
- workshop event
- postproduction days
- licence-free music
- rental audio-visual equipment and postproduction studio
- two experts during the workshop
- distribution rights (we reserve the right to promote the movie co-created with the children on our platform and social media. We also reserve the right to include ou logo in the credits of the movie).
Further to this, the participation fee includes administrative, management and teaching costs. It does not include lunch, or any full board subsistence for the duration of the workshop. It does not include travel or transportation costs.
Children need to bring along their own plasticine, pen, and toys, lunch packages, water, and, depending on the thematic of the workshop, all other creative elements they wish to have in their own cartoon episode.
! For an additional fee, we provide you a professional evaluation report on the child’s interaction with its peers, its personality, strengths and creative potential. This is a short guide established by a child's psychologist during the workshop to help parents identify their children's needs, target their healthy development and maximize their potential towards a life path in accordance with their true self.
In order to guarantee your child's participation, the participation fee is payable upon receipt of an invoice issued and in any case before the start of the workshop.
DO YOU MAKE ANY REDUCTION?
WHAT IF I BOOK FOR MORE THAN ONE CHILD?
10% Reduction - Participation Fee - if you bring along a friend or family member
15% Reduction - Participation Fee - if it's your child's second time participation
Further to this, depending on the number of children, we make discounts for groups and private birthday parties (300 EUR).
Also we reduce the fee for events where just an expert (instead of two) held the workshop. It is best to e-mail us your concern, so we can make you an offer.
WHAT DOES MY CHILD GET FROM THE WORKSHOP ?
After the workshop, your child will have acquired:
I'D LIKE TO BRING ALL MY KIDS TO THE WORKSHOP, BUT THEY TEND TO ANNOY EACH OTHER. WILL MY KIDS SURVIVE IN THE SAME ROOM?
Uhhhh! We totally understand your concern. You are not the only parent who brought their siblings to our workshop mentioning that they might get on each other’s nerves. Nevertheless, our participants seem to be very absorbed in the process of film-making. And in order to be able to make the movie, they respect one of our golden rules: TEAM COLLABORATION. Rather than promoting competitivity (the case in schools), we focus a lot on team-work and sociability. Those who do not collaborate, will not get to make the movie. It’s as simple as it sounds. And kids adapt accordingly. They are inspired.
